Noticiero Móvil turns 10 years old this fall!

This past decade Noticiero Móvil, and its students, have won two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Gracie Award and our students often rank at the top of the national Hearst Awards. Our unique university-supported outlet appears in the international “Hormiguero 2 Guide” published by the Fundación Gabo in Colombia (established in the memory of journalist and novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez) and in the first-of-its-kind journalism classroom book “Reporting on Latino/a/x Communities A Guide for Journalists” (Routledge 2022). Furthermore, Noticiero Móvil will be included in the forthcoming “News Desert U,” about universities that run media outlets to help the news desert crisis.

More than 100 alumni from RSJ and UNR have trained as bilingual, multimedia journalists to find and inform our community about news that matters, uplifts bicultural voices and shapes the future of journalism through student-led reporting. Participants also produced video segments, graphic designs and offer public relations assistance to promote Noticiero Móvil’s content.

Now, and for the first time, we are cordially seeking sponsors keen on backing Noticiero Móvil’s second decade. Your tax-free donation to our local, Spanish-English media outlet would help us continue the work of training the next generation of journalists.
