Five reasons why outdoor running helps deal with online zooming

Read in Spanish: Cinco razones por las que correr puede darte un respiro de Zoom

While many of us are stuck inside and feeling down about not seeing our friends with this lingering pandemic and all its limitations, there is always a way for us to get up and active that doesn’t put us in a state of risk.

Online zooming has been the new norm for a year now, so why not get up and try physical zooming? Also known as running.

1. Running gets the blood pumping

According to Lumen Learning, when you go exercise, all of the movement activates the “heart to pump blood into the circulation more efficiently as a result of more forceful and efficient myocardial contractions, increased perfusion of tissues and organs with blood, and increased oxygen delivery.”

2. Running takes you to new parts of your neighborhood and city

Why stay and burn your eyes on a screen when you could go out and have the chance to explore the nature of your surroundings? Exploring your city or town gives you a chance to discover new hangout places and new friends to connect with.

3. Running helps you to relieve stress by pounding away at the sidewalk instead of at a keyboard

Ever had one of those days where you look at your laptop and see only frustration? Just kidding, that’s an everyday occurrence now. Well on those days of stress, take all of that energy and put it to the running instead of harming your eyes and your emotional state.

4. Running can help build your self confidence

Who doesn’t like to feel good about themselves? When you push yourself to take that one extra step or that one extra acceleration on the running path, your mind is telling your body that no matter what life throws at you, you can handle this one step at a time.

5. And Don’t Forget Dogs

Last but not least, who doesn’t love spotting those furry friends as you pass by them on the street? Or if you have your own dog, take some time to go and bond with them by working out those good boys and girls.
