Vaccinate your cat or dog for free thanks to Animal Services, get free pet food too

February 6, 2020 by Noticiero Movil

If you have a new litter of puppies or an intrigue of kittens, the Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) wants to remind you that once a month it offers low-cost vaccinations.

But if you are a senior citizen over the age of 60 WCRAS will vaccinate your dog or cat for free. Just bring them to the Reno-Sparks Livestock Event Center on Mar. 10 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Seniors need to provide identification.

The vaccinations provided include rabies (for dogs and cats), DA2PPV (for dogs), FVRCP (for cats), the bordetella booster (for adult dogs) and deworming (for dogs and cats).

Additionally, every third Tuesday of the month, for pets and dogs registered to Washoe County residents ages 60 and over (also ID), WCRAS distributes free pet food. The next two events will take place on Feb. 18 and Mar. 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the local Senior Services center located at 1155 E. 9th St.

For everyone else, every first Tuesday of the month, local residents can drop in without an appointment to have their dog or cat vaccinated at the WCRAS offices located at 2825 Longley Lane, Reno from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The next two events are Tuesdays, Mar. 3 and Apr. 7. The price of low-cost vaccines range between $10 and $20.

The WCRAS reminds pet owners in the county that dogs are required to be licensed.
