String of suspicious fires in downtown Reno raise concern of fire marshal

Reno Fire Department investigators need the public’s assistance to identify suspects who may have set multiple fires downtown that occurred in the early morning hours of January 29.

Tray Palmer, fire marshal for Reno Fire, in a press release shared that a total of three fires occurred one after the other between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. One occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. at 816 E. 2nd St. in a vacant structure, another was reported at 4:57 am at 747 Willow St., this one involving an occupied structure. The last fire took place at 5:29 a.m. at 257 Thoma St. where firefighters extinguished a burning vehicle.

All the fires occurred east of downtown Reno. The last two may be related, the department added.
