Reno City FC is the name of the Biggest Little City’s Newest Soccer Team

Reno, Nev. — In front of a cheering crowd at the Reno Public Market, the organization behind Reno Pro Soccer on Wednesday unveiled the name, crest, colors, and identity of the newest team to launch in the region — Reno City FC.

“We just think it’s for everybody and we hope everyone rallies behind it,” said Wendy Damonte, the chief executive officer of Reno City FC. The organization will now fully transition to the name of the team and will stop using Reno Pro Soccer.

Damonte and President of Reno City FC John Doyle also announced the five colors and crest for Reno City FC. According to the marketing video played, they couldn’t just stop at blue for the lake or white for the mountain tops, but also added “sunset” –a combination of orange and red, – “twilight pink” to depict the hues in our skies during sunrise and sunse , and “desert grit,” a rustic brown tone. On either side of the octagonal crest are two mustangs facing one another, one reflecting on the past and the other on the future.

More than one thousand people participated in surveys to help choose the identity of Reno City FC, Damonte said.

Covid dealt a deathly blow to Northern Nevada’s last professional soccer club, Reno 1868 FC, which ceased operations following the 2020 season. It kicked off in 2017 and played at Greater Nevada Field.

The loss of Reno 1868 FC left a whole in the community and that Reno Pro Soccer wants to fill. It’s governance team is even investing in a soccer-centric stadium on Kietzke Lane. They updated the those gathered that the STADIUM plans have expanded and no surrounding sports and entertainment district in southeast Reno. They also announced one of the first sponsors, Capelli Sports.
