Bent but Not Broken: An Abused Youth Survives Nevada’s Foster Care System

Nevada has the highest rate of unaccompanied homeless youths in the nation, and constant transition can have deep effects on foster youths’ transitions into adulthood.
Meet Nina Shapey, a woman who faced a troubled upbringing in the foster system but who now works to inspire and support girls through the Nevada Youth Empowerment Project (NYEP).
